The principle of contra-rotation of blades is employed in the Contra Mixer to enable simultaneous beating and scraping operations. It is primarily used for the manufacturing of toothpaste, creams, cosmetics, and other viscous products.

A series of paddle-type blades with specially designed shapes is included in the mixing assembly, allowing the material to be moved back toward the center of the container. These blades are mounted on a central shaft, which is enclosed by a hollow shaft. Additional blades are welded onto the hollow shaft. Both sets of blades are intermeshed and are rotated in opposite directions—clockwise and anti-clockwise.

The mixer is designed to withstand high vacuum pressure that may be applied during the process, ensuring optimal mixing results.

Contra Mixers with capacities ranging from 50 liters to 5,000 liters are manufactured by Varcogroup to serve a wide range of industrial applications.
