Fluidized bed drying in the laboratory

The dryer VG 200 is utilized in quality control, sample preparation, and R&D departments. It allows for the gentle drying of organic, inorganic, chemical, or pharmaceutical bulk materials without causing localized overheating. Suitable materials include coarse, fine, crystalline, fibrous, or leafy substances. Optimal air throughput is ensured by the powerful fan, which effectively loosens and thoroughly mixes the products being dried. Interval operation further enhances the mixing of the fluidized bed. Digital settings allow for continuous adjustment of temperature, drying time, and air volume.

Compared to conventional drying ovens or microwaves, the VG 200’s fluidized bed drying method offers significantly better performance. The fan generates an air volume of 185 m³/h at idle speed. Average drying times range from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the type, amount, and moisture content of the material. This results in substantial time savings and is beneficial for the product, which is subjected to less thermal stress.

The VG 200 is suitable for the following applications:

• Sample materials such as coal, fertilizer, plant parts, plastics, recycling wood, sawdust, secondary fuels, soils, and waste can be dried using the VG 200. The motor is located outside the filtered airflow, enabling the VG 200 to also dry more sensitive materials, such as pharmaceutical products, without risking sample contamination.
• Test sieves can also be dried using this dryer. The fluid bed dryer comes with a clamping device “comfort” and a filter bag for attaching the 6 L drying container. Test sieves with a 200 mm diameter can be directly mounted on the VG 200 without using the drying container. An adapter for 8″/203 mm sieves is available upon request.
